Hah! Interestingly Enough I replied to this..
I happened to come across this on my school's discussion forum. This SMU student had read the article in which our school's Dean made some petty remarks. And boy did he/she have something to say. Well, at least I thought it interesting enough to reply. Now, just take the time to open up these two links and do abit of reading, before you go on to read my reply - otherwise, you would be sorely confused, rather than amused.

I may be a student of NBS, but I have to admit that I am none too pleased with the comments of the dean either. It does sound tremendously like sour grapes to me. Still, I am not very appreciative of what the SMU student has said either. Now, what I feel is this that it is obvious to one and all that the comments of the dean is of no substance, so to speak. But, why do you have to degrade yourself to his level as well?.. Don't you realise that the words you have used has been said out of anger? If you want to prove a point, make sure that you select your words carefully and do it in a way that lashes out in "substance". I have seen numerous of customers lashing out at the people who are attending to them. There are those who just spit out words of anger, and naturally embarass the hell out of themselves. And there are those who no one can even devise a way to shoot back at. Why? Because what they say is that of truth and depth. So insulting and yet.. so true. And most the admirable thing about it, is the fact that thru'out the whole blessed event, their tone never changes. It is always in the oh-so-logical-and-insulting tone, but yet so in control. That my friend, is presentation & substance all in one.Every individual is different in terms of their abilities. Some make up for their lack in presentation by being innovative and aggressive. I witnessed a talk by a certain Mr. Khoo - who by the way has already written 2 very successful books, as well as co-written another book on moral intelligence for kids - who I can honestly tell you, does not do a very good job at his presentation skills. But he has substance in other forms. Otherwise, he would not be so successful at such a young age of 26. The institutions we study in are but just a name. It is just a foothold of our starting point. What matters most is how we advance from there. It is only then that we can really judge substance, but no without a bit of luck of course. SMU is a new institution, and it is true that to prove themselves, they can only do so in due time. Understand what I am saying is to for the SCHOOL to PROVE themselves to society at large. No one can question the abilities of the students as they have proven their capabilities by rising to tertiary education; nor can they question the methods of the institution, since these methods have been so called "tried-and-proven". We all know that for a fact. The issue here, is:(1) whether the institution's methods can work just as well in local context(2) that the SCHOOLS themselves have to compete to be at the top. This is not our battle. Ever so often, students are the ones who fall victim to this vicious battle. What we can do is ignore these foolish debacles and just remain indifferent. After all, what matters most to us is our results and whether we can achieve the skills needed to push our way up the social ladder. And besides, these constant battles can help us all in a sense that the schools are constantly thriving to be the better; hence, better teaching methods and equipments at our disposal. Just remember, never be foolish enough to let yourself be manipulated by the schools. It would only make them all too happy if an "opponent's" student were to fight back and end up making a spectacle of themselves and the school. Why do that when you can enjoy watching THEM make fools out of themselves?.. "
So that is my point of view. Cynical? Maybe. But that is the way the cookie crumbles babe. Give me your thoughts.
